Claire & Rhys were in a one-week science camp this summer.
On one of the days they had to dress up like their favorite scientist. Rhys went as a geologist and Claire went as the famous primatologist Jane Goodall. Their costumes were pretty cool:
Celebrating the end of school… in Tofino!
Every Canada Day there is a skateboard contest in Tofino. Jimmy has been meaning to attend it for years. We opted to combine his desire with a family vacation as a way to celebrate the end of the school year. Additionally, we were married in Ucluelet so this area of the island remains very special to us.
We stayed at Pacific Sands Beach Resort which was amazing and very family friendly. Being right on Cox Bay beach, the kids loved the easy-access to early beach walks and exploring. In fact, we visited several times during each day. We would spot new sea creatures, hike the adjoining trails, go slug hunting (where we would count the number of slugs along the way), and even venture into the chilly waters. It was so much fun! There was even a nature camp for 1.5 hours per day the kids could attend and nightly S’mores making.
One of our best trips ever. I think we will make it an annual event.

End of Grade 1 – beach day!
The kids recently had a beach day for their class end of school year party. Jimmy & I were able to take time off to chaperone this fun event.
It was a hot sunny day full of sand digging, watermelon eating, jellyfish hunting and chaotic fun with a bunch of 6/ 7 year olds!
I cannot believe Claire & Rhys are done Grade 1!

Jimmy’s graduation!
I am super proud to announce that Jimmy recently graduated from Camosun College! Between academic study and practicum-based work, balancing the demands of life was very challenging.
We are very pleased that he (we) persevered and he got on the Dean’s Honour Roll as a result! He now has his Community Support/ Education Assistant diploma and he is ready to attack the job market.

Mexico 2016!
In February we traveled to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to catch some sunshine. We met my parents down there and had a blast. The kids had so much fun and it is always so nice to spend time with my parents. The main purpose for this trip was to have Claire & Rhys spend some quality time with their Nana & Papa who they don’t get to see very often. Mission accomplished 🙂

Christmas in Victoria 2016
We had a lovely Christmas this year. Pretty decorations, cool weather, some sunshine, present opening, a walk along the beach, brunch with Debbie and a Christmas dinner with the whole Miller gang out in Sooke.
Claire & Rhys’ 6th Birthday!
We celebrated Claire & Rhys’ 6th birthday with a Penguin party! We invited a bunch many of their friends to go ice skating at a local arena.
It was super fun although Rhys doesn’t really like ice skating too much but Claire sure does!Rhys made the most of it anyway and we celebrated these two monkeys.
